This pergola has been on my deck for 2 summers now. It has held up pretty well. The biggest issue was that the mesh top once attached cannot be removed easily so the heavy snow we had during the winter stretched the mesh so now leaves and debris gets caught on the top. I wish it was designed to roll up/down the mess top to make it easier but the directions did note all pertinent info. I just didn’t think about snow. One year ago I bought a cheaper pergola from another company; it had the nylon roof you pull back with a cord, no side screens available. The roof was flimsy and noisy whenever there was a breeze, and if you forgot to close it tight before a rain, the weight of the water was going to tear it . It actually wasn’t 10x10 as advertised, maybe 9x9, and the sun came under the east & west sides, no you were seldom shielded from the sun. So I tried Wayfair after noticing my neighbor’s, got the same one only I ordered the pulldown screens for 2 sides. It also has a louvered metal roof ( huge improvement), we love it! We have been wanting to get a pergola for so long, and have been hesitant to pull the trigger. I’m so glad we finally did! We are so pleased with this one! It was a bit of a process to put together, but not terrible. It took two people about 5 hours to finish, and the last few steps we needed three people. Overall it was relatively easy, just a lot of steps. The top shade is a bit transparent so you can still see out of it, which we like, and the drapes are thick so if you want to close them to block out that sun you can. This is a great pergola if you have limited backyard space and want more shade sometimes, and more sun sometimes. I love that it’s retractable!
