For these two new ones, I've converted them into self-watering planters using sturdy 22 inch saucers and 1/2 inch solid-braid nylon rope for wicking the water up into the soil. This was a good price. Barrel has a very light finish so as to allow some breathing but keep from staining. Very nice barrel, I cleaned mine out and filled it with water. It didn’t leak at all.
