The dimensions are correct and it is a sturdy piece once you finally get it assembled. However if you don't like ugly silver screws showing all over the place both inside and outside this is not the piece for you. I really love the finished product. There were two downsides, though. Firstly, the instructions don’t differentiate between which side they mean for you to use (I got the whitegreen bookshelf). Secondly, the material is a bit fragile and the spacing thin, so when putting it together, a couple of the screws started to come out below the shelf and break the board.
