this is a replacement for an older shade. Found the eyelets to be superior in this Royal unit but have not had time to install but from inspection the stitching is the key. This shade sail is made of a thick but flexible material that should provide just the right amount of protection from the sun without being a total "sunblock" (or completely waterproof) and the reinforced attachment points on the sail seem sufficiently strong. I haven't yet installed it, but the included kit appears to be very comparable to the separate installation kit I ordered just in case the included kit was flimsier or more difficult to use. This particular brand of sail offered a lot of different size options, which is ideal if you are looking for a sail to fit a space with unequal distances between the triangle points. The sail I ordered measures 20' x 20' x 28.3'. it came with a installation hardware kit but I can't yet comment on whether the hardware kit works well. I also ordered another hardware kit in case I needed a different installation option than the one included. Unfortunately, Wayfair said it delivered both when I never received the additional hardware kit. After waiting 3 days to see if there was a problem with how the item was scanned, I have reported the missing delivery and hope that I will receive that other installation kit so that I can choose which kit will work better for installing the sai.. Such a nice shade!! This puts our old shade to shame. I am very happy with the upgrade. I was leery about the winch situation but when I figured out how I wanted to mount it, it turned out working perfect. The instructions give you three different ways to mount the winches and all the hardware is included. I was able to use the house hooks from old shade and just added the winches to the opposite side. This was an experience. First, I couldn’t clear the utility lines at my house but my friend’s deck was perfect. We started out confident, but it didn’t last. The wrenching apparatus was our downfall. In the end we decided to forgo the winch process and hung it only using the locking mechanisms. The sail is great. It feels strong yet pliable and it’s the perfect shade of summer red. If you want a proper sun shade sail, you need to leave 0.5-1 feet of space for accessories. Please understand that due to the elasticity of the HDPE fabric material, our shade sail for outdoor has a tolerance of ±4 inch.

Approximate how much area you want to shade. Triangle, square, or rectangle depends on the number of existing poles, roofs, trees, concrete walls, etc. Use cable wires to connect the shade sail to hardware if necessary. If you don’t use cable wires, keep a 0.5 - 2 ft space between D rings and poles to give space for the hardware kits that come with adjustable turnbuckles to tighten & create tension.
