I actually purchased more crystals to add another layer and it became obvious how much more those new crystals looked like glass versus the ones these come with, but it wasn't a difference that anyone other than me (being super up close to it as I was putting them on) would notice. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase. By the way, if you plan to add chain, this company does sell chain separately (at other retailers) in the specific colors to match the chandelier. This light is STUNNING in person, but everything about installation is harder than it needs to be - the instructions are incredibly sparse and make installation difficult (you can figure it out, but you’ll need to think it through), and I didn’t even get the pearl strands on because there’s no easy way to connect the keychain-like fastener to the teeeeny holes at the top plate once it’s up (maybe connect those on the ground). So, this chandelier was very tedious to wire and assemble. The screws that came with the chandelier (both sets) were not the right size. We ended up using the longer screws with washers.
