Installation was a bit tricky as this was the first custom shower drain I have installed but I was able to figure it out. Once installed this drain is awesome. I’ve got a fairly long and steep concrete driveway that is starting to show its age a little bit. There has been some minor cracking from the freeze-thaw cycle each winter. I decided to try the Armour SX5000 water-based sealant to see if it would improve the situation. I have delayed writing this review for a bit as I wanted to driveway to go through at least one winter season. I first pressure washed the entire driveway surface which is pretty time consuming. I then applied the Armour sealant with a manual pump sprayer. This part went fairly quickly. The trick is to get the sealant covering the driveway well, but not so much as to create puddles that aren’t absorbed. I made sure there was no rain in the forecast for a couple of days. Initially, I did half of the driveway first and the first day that it rained the difference on the two sides was very noticeable. Water on the coated side was beading and running off and on the other side it was being absorbed into the concrete. (The only reason for a 4-star rating is due to the plastic hose and handwand. All other aspects are a strong 5-star!) The handheld shower unit came with a plastic hose, which I immediately replaced. I am sure the plastic one would have worked well, but the metal replacement looks much better and will last longer. Update on previous review: We have enjoyed this shower system for 3 months and it has been amazing! The water pressure and flow is excellent - much better than expected. The upper head has 2 settings: rain and typical spray. The rain setting is very soothing and soft. The typical spray setting provides a lot of water at great pressure. As noted above I replaced the plastic hose with stainless steel hose. That has worked well. In addition, I actually replaced the hand wand with a Moen unit and prefer it over the one that came standard. (The Moen unit has additional spray settings that the standard unit lacked) The controls on the system are excellent, allowing temperature control on one stalk and water distribution on the other. I really like the ability to set temperature independent of the "on/off" valve. I also love the surface mounted aspect of the system. Not only is it attactive, but this design will make servicing it much easier should an issue arise. Our plumbers commented on the quality of the unit and how easy it was to install. Part is new, looks good, arrived on time. Great. However, there's no mention or photo that shows this part is only the 'sleeve' that is inserted into the rough-in mix valve - it doesn't include the internal cartridge (must purchase separately if needed). Nice piece, but it's really more of an institutional item and assumes that you are replacing an existing urinal or have framing in place to accommodate an install. Installing this in a dry-walled garage, for instance, will take some doing including cutting away drywall and add 2x4 supports.
