This is the coolest thing and I’m super excited to use it. Going to make it the top of a coffee table. Very lightweight and crazy bendable, hard to believe it’s real slate but it is. Trying to think of other places I could use it just because it’s so interesting. I ordered the California Gold which is pictured here. Not a lot of gold but some. I’ve got a fairly long and steep concrete driveway that is starting to show its age a little bit. There has been some minor cracking from the freeze-thaw cycle each winter. I decided to try the Armour SX5000 water-based sealant to see if it would improve the situation. I have delayed writing this review for a bit as I wanted to driveway to go through at least one winter season. I first pressure washed the entire driveway surface which is pretty time consuming. I then applied the Armour sealant with a manual pump sprayer. This part went fairly quickly. The trick is to get the sealant covering the driveway well, but not so much as to create puddles that aren’t absorbed. I made sure there was no rain in the forecast for a couple of days. Initially, I did half of the driveway first and the first day that it rained the difference on the two sides was very noticeable. Water on the coated side was beading and running off and on the other side it was being absorbed into the concrete. Inspired by our jaunts overseas where oil drums in varying stages of deterioration greeted us at every turn, we created our replicas of the discs carved from the tops (or bottoms) as edgy decorative elements. Though the patina we achieved a finish that may convince you that these are made of metal, the cast oil drum wall discs, which are packaged as 4 pieces, are made of composite that our artisans made to look jagged like real aging metal would. Extremely easy to install and maintain (follow specific instructions for this product). 2-part anti-acid epoxy mortar. Great product for protecting concrete. Be careful with how you want to apply this product. I used a plastic container and sprayer, and this sealer literally melted the plastic/ spraying wand. I had to buy stailess steel sprayer to apply this sealer. Also, use a very good quality gloves to avoid any skin rash. It would be great if the supplier supplied MSDS sheet and warning label to not to use any plastic sprayer. Product is excellent, easy to apply!
