So, at first I was like "Nice mattress!". Description and pictures made it sound like a dream.. Like getting two mattresses in one. Personally, I couldn't feel any type of difference between the two sides, but I figured there HAD to be, because description mentioned padding for comfort, etc.
Fast forward a month, baby gets a stomach virus. Never fear, cover is water resistant! But.. It isn't vomit resistant. (it was on top of mattress, not on edges near seams) Remove cover (which is identical on both sides, not extra cushioned or anything) and mattress stinks a bit of vomit. Great. I can clean that..no big deal, shame on me for not having the after market waterproof cover on it. So. After getting cover in washing machine, I further inspect this "multi layer, additional cushioning on toddler side" mattress.
Either they lie, or I got a different mattress. The entire thing is essentially a giant chunk of bonded fiber... And that's all it is. You all see that photo in the slide show, showing the multi layers? IT DOESN'T HAVE THAT. There isn't any extra cushioning, or difference of any sort between either side of this mattress.
Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad mattress. Baby sleeps wonderfully on it. I'm just a little miffed that I thought I bought one thing, and got another.
Pros: fits tight in crib, regular sheets fit perfectly, even with multiple layers (new mattress cover, thank you very much), not overly noisy (but I put a chenille sheet, with a standard sheet over it. Helps with noise). Baby finds it very comfortable, price was reasonable, shipping was fast.
Cons: see above.
Overall, I'm not suggesting you don't buy this mattress. Just be aware it isn't layered and cushioned like they claim. I AM suggesting you acquire a real waterproof cover and put that on before you need it. (found a Sealy one for less than $20 at Wally world).. A. Orlando, FL. 2017-03-01 16:08:27
