This is a fixed-standing seam product that is modular, DIY, and hand-crafted. The framework is made out of a beautiful commercial-grade mill finish aluminum that is powder-coated and will not rust. LOVE. Great quality and they look amazing. I was quoted $6500 from a local awning company for the same "look" and for the same four windows. I paid less than a quarter for the awnings and paid $400 to a handyman who installed them in one day. I get so many compliments on these. The awning is great so far. We have 12*10 size. We added this on our deck on vinyl sliding.. needed to find the stud and used ledger-lock instead of given screws ( as those can only be used in brick).. looks pretty solid, will have to see how it holds in wind.. LOVE LOVE LOVE this awning. Its very sturdy, sleek and beautiful. Adds a touch of class to my back yard and plenty of shelter from Oregons rain and UV rays! Particularly appreciate the built in movable gutter system. I plan to add potted plants with a couple rain chains attached to the gutter ends to add some interest and babbling sounds. Since installation of the awning, I've noticed the back of my house is about 10 degrees cooler. The top panels are shaded plexiglass...so plenty of light comes through. It was installed on an existing concrete patio (12 X 20) and I opted for the 10 X 17 awning. It took 2 young gentlemen two 4-5 hour days to install it....but they also did some much house painting before the installation (as you can see from my photo). One thing to note (we found this out the hard way)....do NOT place this too high to your gutters. It will force the support legs to invade the open covered space you wish for. After a bit of modification by lowering the support system....the legs were moved to the very end of the panels and looks amazing. If I had to do it over again....I would in a NY minute. Only change I would make is to order the awning to cover the 20 ft length of my patio. Just make sure you really READ and follow the instructions and be sure NOT to secure it too close to your gutter system. VERY HAPPY with this purchase...and got it at a great price (which was what prompted me to make the purchase!). Issues started right away with the amount of plastic used to ship this item. Yikes. Less plastic in the future would be super ideal. The next issue I noticed was the stitch used was simple and not at all weatherproof that Id think would be on this. If you have a sewing machine then it would be a easy fix to put stronger stiches into it, if not well youd have to pay someone or I fear this will last maybe a summer. Onto instructions lol maybe it was an off day for me because I hate to admit that I took much longer trying to figure out if I was missing something on the last step in step four than normal. Also, the the long black plastic stuck is the tread. I thought it would have been stronger material. Lastly I do not have any pictures of it up yet because when I hired someone to put it up I was informed I needed a permit to have it put up!! So crazy so Im going to be looking into that and Ill update if Wayfair allows me to. So far Id buy this for a temporary type outdoor upgrade. Time will tell if its Florida weather safe.. Kimberly. Nice touch contemporary look against my old cedar shake vinyl . However this awning alone will not hold on its own so we had to remove the newer siding to expose it and reinforce. my husband had to double reinforce the area(double layer of 2 by 8 in between the studs )so the provided wooden lag screws will have enough support . Product is all plastic but it does look pretty good. Had to get special lag bolts (4inch 12inch diameter) as the hardware they sent didn’t hold it up - stucco wall - I put it over my terrace’s patio door. Also you need to install 1 panel at a time as it is impossible, even with 4 people, to line it up and hold it up when fully assembled per the instructions. It bends in every direction (even the arms are plastic). Gave up the first time. Then came back to it with new hardware and disassembled it and put it up panel by panel. One side appears a tad lower- maybe we didn’t measure, maybe it’s the plastic that warped from sitting on the terrace for a few days and through a storm before we had enough patience to try again. I bought two of these to go above two buildings in my back yard. As a carpenter, I couldnt build these for this price. They are a little flimsy when putting together, and I did put some extra self tapping screws in. They come in grey, but I painted mine black to match. You will need to put a bead of clear silicone caulk around the perimeter on top, to prevent leaks. As you can see in one of my pics, I only used half of one on one of my doors. To me, they were well worth the money, and after installation, they look fabulous on my buildings. Now if you live in an area of snow, this will most certainly not hold up in those conditions.
