I was happy to find maple base at Wayfair, as I was having trouble finding it anywhere in stock. I came two days earlier than promised also, which saved the day for my remodeling time schedule. I also like the wrought iron-look accent. Although this is apparently made to use without staining, we decided to stain it. It has a very different look with the stain. I would have liked it either way, but the stain made it blend with the other in the room. My only disappointment was that although it is to be rustic, all three base pieces we ordered had knots to the extent that it had holes completely through the wood. My carpenter is planning to cut those pieces out, but I didn't expect that waste on premium trim. (I will include a pic of the crown molding to show how it looks stained.
