While I wasn't pleased with the logistics of getting the trunk from point A to point B I am pleased with the item itself. I was concerned with buying something of this size and prize without actually seeing it "in person". However, after looking at countless hope chests, toy boxes and blanket boxes I decided to take a chance. This trunk is much longer than most and while maybe a bit on the narrow side it fits the space I have for it. It also comes completely assembled. Many of the others on other sites require assembly and the reviews related missing parts or holes not lining up etc. This one is 100% assembled. I was also unsure of the "distressed" aspect but it looks just fine (not like someone took it out back and beat it with a chain). I wanted solid wood and not particle board as many of the you put it together trunk had. This trunk is solid wood except for the back panel (looses some points there but for the price I won't argue). The description also reads LIGHT wood tone. I was worried it would be pale and washed out. This is not the case. Its does have a light golden coloring to it, Very nice. The handles look a bit light weight for this 140 lb pound item. I wouldn't count on them when moving it. The lid is fairly heavy and if you let go it could cause some damage. Not sure its exactly child safe. Some trunks have hinges that close slowly (not sure what you call them) These are just regular hinges Finally the packaging was sufficient as there was no damage in transit. Someone went a little shrink wrap happy where I might have wanted to see more cardboard or Styrofoam but again as there was no damage maybe they have that part figured just right. All in all its a nice heavy trunk, fairly simple in design. Not sure if I would necessarily call it strictly masculine looking. But then again I wouldn't put any precious moments figures on it either. Oh and yes I would recommend it and though I see no reason to own two I guess I would buy again now that I know what it looks like. Hope this helps anyone considering buying this item.
