In addition, we originally thought it was going to be way too big for a mailbox, however the size ended up being perfect and not overbearing. Likes: -We love the way it looks. Unique to other mailboxes in our neighborhood. -The opening is larger for additional mail items such as the smaller packages we receive that usually end up sitting on the ground by our front door (sometimes getting soggy or wet). -Sturdy -Durable plastic material -Magnetic piece to keep the door closed -Love the plant hanger option on the back, easy to assemble. Wife and I decided to replace the generic plastic mailbox with something that matched our home. This was the perfect solution for us! The mailbox is extremely solid, not like the sheet metal mailboxes that the big boxes offer. Mailbox was also very easy to assemble. Most difficult part was digging the hole. Previous owner only had the post down 18" or so, which explained why it was so wobbly. I didn't want to set the post in concrete in case a snow plow driver decided to take it out and I would need to replace it at some point. So, I decided to set the post down 42" and just repack with dirt, which worked out great. However, once I started digging, I quickly discovered why the previous owner stopped at 18"! I would expect that a mailbox that is outdoors would have stainless steel screws. With a white finish I can look forward to brown stains from the rusted screws.
