Great design and solid construction. (Reminds me of how things were manufactured in the U.S. 50 years ago) However, a nylon sleeve is placed over the gas spring and must be removed before assembly. This is NOT mentioned in the instructions. The stool arrived with this nylon sleeve incorrectly inserted (rammed) into the seat base, probably by a prior customer who returned it before my purchasing it.
