Item looks great! I had an Angi contractor build it (Jonathan H). At first, there was a piece missing. I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me an entire new bookcase because they didn’t have just the piece itself. They then refunded me for the contractor’s wasted visit, so I was able to hire him again and have him finish building the unit. It took him several hours and I am very glad that I hired him to build it. It is a very sturdy piece of furniture. Plenty of space and exactly what I wanted. I couldn’t be happier with these bookcases. They look beautiful, feel sturdy once assembled, and offer a surprising amount of storage. The combination of open shelving, drawers, and cabinet space makes them both functional and attractive. Assembly is definitely a two-person job and is a bit involved. Our first bookcase took about four hours to assemble, but by the time we built the second one, we’d learned the process and finished it in under three hours. One tip for future buyers the instructions have you attach the hinges to the cabinet doors first and then install them after the cabinet is fully assembled. We found it much easier to attach the hinge hardware to the cabinet frame before installing the top panel, then attach the doors as the final step. It’s still a little fiddly, but it’s much easier than trying to work in a cramped space with tiny screws. Overall, these bookcases exceeded my expectations. Fantastic for the price! They are sturdy and look high end. I normally always go for solid wood furniture but couldn’t find what I wanted for the price. These bookshelves took 2-3 hours each to put together and are very sturdy. My only complaint is that the doors were hard to get to not have an uneven gap while also not scraping the bottom of the cabinet. I wish furniture manufacturers would stop to consider that not every piece of furniture is going to be put against a wall, so it would be nice to have a decent backing. The back of this bookcase is some sort of shiny, vinyl covered panel and the color is awful. Maybe it was meant to be faux marble, but they missed by a mile. I got this bookcase for my daughter's room. She is a book lover and it fit perfectly. Exactly what she was looking for. I assembled it. It took few hours.
