Both the directions and holes predrilled were fairly easy to assemble. Due to the size it came in 3 sections but once the first was assembled it went much faster. We are pleased with armoire as far as the way it looks but the lack of the 5th star in the rating was simply due to the material in the outer pieces. This worked out better than we expected for the room because it filled the space perfectly and the dark brown color matched existing doors and blended well with the other furniture. It takes time to assemble (allow several hours) and I am lucky because my roommate is a general contractor so it went well.
