We like the look of our new bed, but aren't sure it was worth the hassle. I was looking for a grey wooden headboard and ordered this bed because I got an email saying it was no longer out of stock before I found anything else I liked. The confirmation email said it would be delivered in a few days. One week after placing the order, I got an email saying it would be another 2 months before it would be delivered (so basically it still wasn't back in stock). By the time it finally made its way to San Francisco (shipped from Brazil through Virginia, according to the packing slip), one of the boxes was smashed on one side, which caused the metal clips that connect the side rails to the headboard to be bent, and made for a major pain when putting the bed together and required several other tools to try and straighten the metal before digging into the wood with a razor blade to make it work. We also found that we had to reinforce the tiny wooden slats running from left to right underneath the mattress because that part is made of cheap wood. The color of the wood is slightly less grey than pictured in the website's photo and actually has a slight hint of blue to the grey. Well, the bed is gorgeous. It smells great, like pine. It's solid and sturdy and easy to put together. But I'm confused. I have a normal full size (52/53-ish inches) mattress and box spring. This bed is a normal full size bed frame. I put it together correctly. But I have inches of space left where you can see the slats: The box spring/mattress don't fit snugly into the frame. It doesn't look nice. I'm contemplating returning this, but I'm not sure what I can do after I've already set it up. I think my mattress might run on the small side of a "full variation," as I now understand that mattress can slightly vary by size. Very happy with this purchase! It took about three hours to assemble and I definitely suggest two people for the job. There is a point where you will need some blocks of wood for support, so have that on hand. Books would probably be just as good. The color is a perfect match to my existing furniture which I painted last year. It is not a bright white, and is more of a flat finish. It is all wood, no particle board. Very sturdy as well. Love it! You’ll have to have a little patience with some of the assembly…a few little screws were difficult to put into the tiny space where they went, but we got it! Also there are screws that go into the bottom slats and there are no pre-existing holes for those, and you will need a power drill. It would have been a huge help if some of the pieces had markings of Top, Bottom, Left, Right, because we put a few pieces together backwards, but we’re able to correct it before we got too much further. So be careful about that! One last thing…I am not happy with the height of the mattress without a box spring, so I will be purchasing a low profile box spring…5” should get my mattress up to the height I want. But that’s just my personal preference. Others might prefer it low. However this has nothing to do with the space under the bed used to store things. There is plenty of clearance.. Vicki. W.
