I decided to purchase this when it was on sale for a gift since Shun has a good reputation with their knives. It came plenty sharp and looks really nice on our magnetic knife strip with some other Japanese steel from my collection. My only gripe is that it doesn't hold its edge as long as I'd hoped it would. Didn’t realize it was so small. Find it difficult to handle. Also did not know there was a lifetime warranty on your knives. I bought my 8” chef knife while in culinary school in 2002 and the handle broke off about 5 years after. It was still my favorite knife that’s why I bought another. Is it too late to be compensated.
