The duvet without the insert looks just fine for me and I'm hoping it's not too heavy but since I live in the north I think it'll be just right. I also feel that since my bed is a queen I would have liked this duvet to be a little bit larger for more of an overhang, I should have ordered a king size just for the extra overhang.. Great bedding! Great quality for the cost. The comforter is cozy but lightweight which is what my husband prefers. Only downside is that we measured our bed, we for sure have a regular king which is what we ordered, but in order to cover the sides of our mattress, we had to turn the comforter sideways and use added pillows to hide the sheets up at the headboard.
