The rug is beautiful, and I love that it is wool. However, the rug had a very strong smell upon delivery, which I can only describe as "wet dog." I read online how to fix this, as I really wanted to keep this rug. I bought baking soda, as suggested, and sprinkled it liberally on to the rug. Three small baking soda containers didn't touch the smell. It took about 8 and a lot of vacuuming and working with it to get rid of 85% of the odor. The rest faded in time on it's own. The other wool rug that we got at the same time from a different maker had no odor at all. Perhaps one had "washed" wool, and the other was treated differently. Now that it has no smell, we really like it and are glad we kept it, but it should have been ready to use upon delivery. It is a quality rug, and the design is beautiful. It is well made.. Barbara. Different than I was expecting but in a good way! I ordered two of these rugs. The hooked pattern is slightly different between the two, but not really noticeable. The rugs are duller, drabber colors in person than on my screen, but I’m actually happy about that. I was concerned that the rug would be too pastel and cottage—y, but it’s a great mix and helps blend my sage green walls, navy blue vanity, oil rubbed bronze fixtures, and walnut medicine cabinet and switch plates.
