I ordered a 3” metal box spring to put under a 12” memory foam mattress and it’s the perfect height to cover the opening under the headboard but isn’t too high. Very easy to put to together. It is a very sturdy bedframe for the price. The “espresso” color is fairly accurate in person vs what you see online in the pictures. The only reason we give this bedframe 4 stars is because one of the posts came damaged as seen in the second picture. Additionally, instructions were pretty straightforward. There was one moment where it isn’t straightforward, as it doesn’t mention there is not a pre drilled hole for a screw for the middle portion of the frame. The bed frame has been pretty sturdy since we put it together, and had no issues putting our premium king sized mattress on it. The bed is beautiful and really high quality but it is gigantic in our room. If we had a bigger room, it would be perfect. (Our room is about 11’6” x 13’0”). Love the color, the quality. The bed is sturdy, and looks as pictured. It was delivered in a few pieces and required assembly on site, but it wasn’t so bad. That said, the manufacturer assembly instructions were sparse and the side boards were a different part number than the slats were intended to pair with, so we had to modify some of the assembly which was a little frustrating. I can’t rave enough about this gorgeous bed frame! It appears to be all or most solid wood and the design, with the crown molding is just gorgeous and timeless. My only criticism is that it only has four support beams across the frame to hold the mattress and even though each of them has a support leg it still doesn’t feel strong enough. I decided to buy a box spring for it to add support and also to raise the mattress up as it sits rather low without one.
