Stitching the Standard, 1890 Framed Print on Canvas

Pre-Raphaelite artist Leighton depicts a romanticized Medieval scene of an attractive damsel mending a black and gold eagle coat of arms flag while she basks in the sunlight, sitting on a parapet of her castle. The artist employs his mastery of diffused light, meticulous draftsmanship and mesmerizing color to draw the viewer into the chivalric tales of heroic Gothic knights. Famous for his romantic and dreamlike vividness, Edwardian and Medieval compositions, artist Leighton drew inspiration from historic eras, literature, romance and the Pre-Raphaelite movement. This authentic stretched canvas replica captures the original painting’s texture, depth of color, and even its brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. It is surrounded by an imported, antique gold-toned, delicately sculpted 4″-wide designer resin frame with a leaf motif. Proudly printed and framed in the USA using imported molding.
