Schlage's privacy door knobs are locked from the interior using a push button lock on the interior handle with a small pinhole to unlock the handle from the outside. Privacy knobs are ideal for bathrooms, bedrooms, or anywhere a locking door is desired but a keyed cylinder isn't necessary.

We love the egg shaped knob. Easier to turn that a cylindrical shade and looks historic. Tricky to get the faceplate square and it looks less authentic if it's crooked. In the end we got them all straight and we love them.. Michael. Alpharetta, GA. Sun Oct 04 2026
