New duct damper technology provides a tighter seal, resulting in reduced warm and cold air backdrafts. This is a nice fan!!! The description is not accurate, it has no light. It was not a surprise for me because I got a description from the Broan site using the fan's code AE50110DCS. I had AE50110DC and wanted to replace it with an automatic fan that turns on automatically when humidity is high and works for a specific period of time (it has a timer, a duration is up to 60 min). The fan allows the user to select a speed 50, 80 or 110 CFM. My previous fan (AE50110DC) had a permanent speed of 110. AE50110DCS at 110 makes the same level of noise as AE50110DC at 110. AE50110DCS at 80 is a little bit quieter, just a little bit. Therefore, I selected the speed 50 CFM which is really quiet for me. I set a humidity selector at 70% and a timer at 60 min. I know that for a 4PC bathroom the speed of 50 CFM is not enough but I keep a door to the bathroom open all the time and the fan will run for 60 minutes, then check humidity again and start a new 60-min cycle if humidity is above 70%. I guess it should be enough, time will show. I had a choice to buy a bigger Panasonic fan which is as quiet at 110 CFM as this fan at 50 CFM, but decided to use a fan with the same dimensions as my old one. In spite of the fact that this fan turns on automatically you may turn it on manually if necessary - turn a switch on, then off and on again.. Alexander. Kitchener, ON. Mon Nov 06 2023

The 110 CFM humidity sensing exhaust bath fan, offers easy, room-side installation, with “No Attic Access Required”. Ceiling mounted ventilation fan features foldable mounting ears and EzDuct connectors for easy installation. New duct damper technology provides a tighter seal, resulting in reduced warm and cold air backdrafts. With the humidity sensing feature, the bath fan will automatically turn on and off when humidity in the room reaches the set point by the consumer.

Super quiet, love the humidity and timer controls. Never have to worry about my bathroom fan again.. Kurt. Dublin, OH. Tue Jul 28 2026

Has great features I was looking for – a timer for the fan, a dimmable light, humidity sensor. My kids love the rainbow light, but I think it’s unnecessary. Plastic feels a bit cheap and I am crossing my fingers that my contractor can figure out why the fan is suddenly quite loud when it wasn’t for the first 24 Hours. Also, I had to exchange the first delivery because the remote would not connect to the fan.. Anonymous. Fri Jan 02 2026

There is no way to directly control the light andor fan function directly through a wall switch. Just came back to order two more, for the other two bathrooms! The fan is quiet and everyone in the house loves the changing light colours. My suggestion would be to provide the outer ring in white, so the light can be entirely white if desired. I had a problem with the installation: just screwing the fan housing into the stud didn't keep the fan parallel to the ceiling (I guess that is the problem with remodeling). Also, my exhaust duct is 3" and I had a hard time fitting in the transition to 4" in the available space above the ceiling. This will be much easier on the second floor, where I have attic space. Otherwise, it looks nice and works well.. Ranka. Campbell, CA. Wed Nov 05 2025
