These are 6"x2" Bejmat tiles (150x50x13mm). Bejmat are a particular style of rectangular Glazed Zellige tiles, with slabs cut before firing. These thinner bejmat help reduce the weight for wall applications. Produced by hand in Fez, Morocco, these Moroccan mosaic floor tiles are known the world over. Still made with the local clays, and fired in kilns powered by olive pits, these rectangular floor tiles are authentic Zellige (zellij).

Even the installer was commenting on how nice the quality was, and how easy it was to work with - he said he really only broke one tile out of all seven boxes used, and we ended up doing a lot of the kitchen and bathroom. It really came out so much more beautifully than we had even hoped. On top of that, all tile boxes arrived intact with no breakage, and the delivery team was SUPER friendly. I love this tile so much! It has a gorgeous vintage look. I am very critical of tile patterns that look fake/printed. Yes, this is a print, but it is very well done (especially with the intentional fading). You have to be right up next to it and really be looking at it to notice.
