The color is soothing and having the Trim plate adds just that extra bit of design to the thermostat. The material is quality too!

Instead of going through the trouble of patching and repainting we used the trim plate to cover up the ugly hole and mess in the wall. Problem solved and the plate looks really sleek and nice! You would never know the madness that's behind it! It was incredibly quick and easy to install.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] You never know what the cutout for a thermostat looks like before you uninstall the old thermostat, and most of the time, unless you're repainting your walls the hole never quite matches. So I find it easier just to get the trim plate. It makes the installation look much cleaner. This just goes underneath the thermostat and hides any holes or paint marks. Definitely recommend!

It will hide the section of wall previously covered by your older model. If you already had a previous nest and your wall looks good then this add on isn’t necessary. Also. Super easy to install!

When I removed it, there was glue residue behind it as well as the wall color that was there before the house was repainted. The trim plate covers all of that mess and makes the thermostat look professional and neat. The trim plate is well worth it.

If you're replacing a larger thermostat than the Nest, or you just want a more finished, professional look, then I'd recommend adding to your purchase.
