EDIT: After my initial review below, I contacted Wayfair's Customer Service, and spoke with Jenny on the phone. She told me that Wayfair customers should NOT be paying additional charges, and got a Handy rep on the phone with us as well to confirm that they would reach out to the company to compensate them for the time it took to put the furniture together. Then, she credited me a small amount to cover the cost of glue I will purchase to completely solidify the piece. I give this review 4 stars because I do love it despite having to get extra glue to finish its assembly, and because Wayfair's Customer Service was so unbelievably helpful and so nice. It restores my faith in purchasing from Wayfair and also purchasing Handy. If this happens to you, DO NOT pay extra fees, but rather call Wayfair first.
While the piece is very nice, I read reviews and found multiple people suggesting paying for the Handy assembly because it’s difficult to put together, so I did ultimately pay the extra fee. When the individual got to my place, she informed me that she was part of a business contracted by Wayfair and that I would end up owing an extra fee on top of it, 25 for the 1.5hr it should take to put together, which I wasn’t necessarily please with since I didn’t know that ahead of time, but I accepted that. While she was putting it together, she informed me that it came with no instructions and that she’d reached out to Wayfair for instructions and never received them. I was able to find instructions on my receipt, but had to screenshot them to send to her. It ultimately took her six hours to put together, and due to the extra time it took the contracting company charged me another 100 on top of the Handy assembly fee I already paid. In the instructions it says that two people should put it together, but Handy only contracted out for one person. Handy assembly is misleading, leading you to believe that the cost is what you’re paying for your assembly. I’m not sure if this would’ve been as difficult for me and another person to put together, but ultimately it cost more of the service than the actual piece. On top of that, she has to come back with a stronger glue for two of the walls that won’t stay together. It’s unfortunate because it really would be a nice piece of furniture if the instructions had come with the furniture, the glue that came with it worked, and if Wayfair made it known that you’ll be paying their fee and the fee of a company they contract out to. But it is not worth it after all of this.
