The cushions are perfectly firm with tremendous support in the lumbar area for those of us with deteriorating backs. Love the sofa. Have owned now for 2 months. Initially I was concerned that material was stretching. It does appear stretch after sitting on sofa but material returns to normal after a few minutes. Sofa has down feathers in it that seems to help with material returning to proper shape. The cushions themselves are comfortable. This couch is comfortable. Just hope the cushions expand a bit more. Maybe they will in time. Who knows we will see but for now it’s nice and I like it. This was pretty easy to setup and put together. I did most of it myself in about 15-20 minutes. The back and armrests were where I needed some help, just because of the bulk. The arms are not thick, but that isnt an issue. The seat cushions are firm, but do soften, which I like. My only negative is the back of the couch does not come up very high, and the back pillows are on the thin side. If the couch was against a wall, this would not be an issue.
