It turns into a mattress very easily. You just lift the cushion, it’s one piece although it looks like two, all the way up until you hear a click and the back rest stays down. We love this new convertible gray sleeper loveseat. It was very easy to assemble. It only took five minutes to assemble. The color is perfect for our color palette in our new home. It is also very comfortable. It is just the right length too. There are a few dings and dents due to shipping issues. Perhaps if the frame was made of wood instead of fragile brass or thicker steel the shipping problems would not have occurred. But that is the only thing not completely perfect.
