The upscale appeal of the Arbela Wood Slatted Panel Bed Set comes from its sleek design, choice of weathered oak finish, and distressed gunmetal finish hardware. This is a comment on the White Glove service, not the bedroom set, which is fine. The White Glove service is a fraud. I say this as an attorney who knows what fraud is. To start with, the service is advertised on the website as a free perk. But when I called to schedule it, the agent told me that I'd paid nothing for it and initially attempted to charge me. Second, because there is nothing on the website indicating that White Glove service must be arranged for separately, I assumed that the men who delivered the furniture would also set everything up and take away the debris. Not so. They informed me that I had to call and make an appointment. That was a problem because I had guests coming in a few days, so needed everything set up quickly. So I called was given an appointment the morning of the day that my guests were due. I accepted that, after explaining the situation. I then received a series of texts from Angi telling me to "Get excited for your Wayfair Furniture Assumbly booking at 9:00am on [date]." Well, you guessed it, 9:00am came and went and no one showed up. Checking my phone, I found a new text that read "Due to a last-minute issue for your pro, we had to reschedule your booking" for a date too late to do me any good. No phone call. No apology. Nada.
In fairness, I must add that when I expressed my disappointment to the agent who scheduled my set up appointment, she gave me a discount on my purchases, with me even asking. This was before the set up team no-showed. It was due entirely to the fact that no one explained that I would have to arrange the White Glove appointment separately.
Because my guests were coming, I had to unbox and assemble the bedroom set on my own. I'm lucky to be a big person. The set is extremely heavy. When I started, I wasn't sure I'd be able to manage it. It's a two-person job. I was able to get a friend help me cart off the boxes and debris, of which there was plenty.
One final note: I ordered two bedroom sets. One for my guestroom and one for my master bedroom. Angi was supposed to set up both. The latter is still boxed. Will tackle it after my guests leave with help from a friend. I'm finished with Angi.
My advice: Don't count on White Glove service, and certainly do not pay for it. Arrange with a friend to help set things up, or hire a local service or tasker directly.. Charle. Thu Jun 20 2024
