Obsessed with this chair.. Elizabeth. Towson, MD. Tue Jun 20 2023

Beneath fans of palm fronds, chairs like these sat across the expansive, tropical verandas of gin and tonic-drinking, late 19th-century British colonial aristocracy. The eye is drawn toward the glamourous, pierced, sunburst center back splat, the carved, turned arm supports, and the legs tapering to peg feet. Using a design drawn from the pattern books brought to India by the romantic wayfarers, these antique replicas are recreated in solid mahogany and finished in a shabby elegance plantation as perfectly timeless as its classic design. On a three-season porch, beneath a covered portico or awning, a pair of these Design Toscano exclusive chairs creates an oasis for rest reminiscent of days gone by.

With truly exceptional hand-carving of acanthus, scrolls, and foliage and a warm, rich mahogany finish you won't find elsewhere, this Toscano-exclusive chair is in a class all its own! We're not going to claim that this afterlife throne is comfortable-but will say it's dead awesome, haunted with a gruesome skeleton that hovers over four feet high and flanked by a pale pair of skulls seemingly floating in the arresting armrests, this draconian descent into darkness is easily the most dramatic piece in any Halloween collection. Design Toscano-exclusive, the grand-scale sculpture is cast in quality designer resin reinforced with fiberglass for strength and hand-painted in gothic ebony and bone hues. This work of furniture art delivers up the soul as a sure-fire conversation starter and photo op for your business, medieval castle, or gothic home. After all, where does death sit? Anywhere it wants to!

Arrived in a beat up box that was not tall enough for the chair packaged up inside in a separate box. Tge wood looks nice, however there are spots on the seat cushion as well as a long pulled thread that is very noticeable from every angle. The back of the still is not sturdy - could have been tossed around in the box while shipped. Worse experience trying to get this chair returned - it came damaged so I don’t think I need to pay the $89 return shipping label on top of shelling money for miles of rake to keep its box together! My designated Wayfair Account rep is useless and wants me to open the box AGAIN to take photos of damage AGAIN to sent to her. She must not be doing well since she has gone far and beyond to make herself scarcely available to be reached by phone or through email, Kimberly is the rep’s name and each of her emails start with “I was very busy blah blah blah” She refused to honor shipping in a damaged dude table as well saying it’s a variation in the wood. Well, I work with wood everyday Kimberly and white damage salt deposits from possible water damage or moisture are surely no variation in wood. Wayfair beware - Kimberly is the reason you are losing your long time loyal customers. The shift in customer service towards rude, condescending, unhelpful staff may save you from a few returns here and there but in the long run coupled with your drop ship business model where you can’t quality control the product or the way it’s packaged for shipping by the companies listing on your site - will mean no repeat clients..
