Assembly was doable, though the order of the directions could use some adjusting to make them clearer. I had to stop and figure out a few steps, but ultimately I was able to build the couch. The biggest issue was the seat cushion. The cushion was way too big for the cover that was provided, and the zipper ripped when I tried to get it on. I opened a case with the manufacturer, and while the process was a bit clunky, they did follow through and sent me a new cushion cover. I appreciate that they made it right, but it shouldnt have been a problem in the first place. As for the velvet, time will tell whether it holds up to regular wear and tear. The instructions were not easy to follow at all. We have the same exact couch in a grey but I don’t remember it being this hard to set up. The couch is solid though and we must have liked it for us to get 2 of it! This one is in our family room and it has a beautiful royal blue color to it. If you are looking for a less bulky set that is still long and has room, this should do it. It does not look cheap. But I will say this - from knowledge of the other grey one we have, the fabric starts to have piles on it after a short time and this happens with age and from rubbing (sitting) upon it. I am now seeing that there might be ways to remove piling from furniture.
