I've had this island for a few years now and constantly get compliments on it. It looks way more expensive than expected, especially for the price. The delivery was fast and all the pieces for assembly were in good condition. The top wood surface has been used daily and has held up nicely as well as the doors to the cabinets below. Pros: Durable, beautiful color, perfect size for our kitchen, and plenty of storage, both hidden and open. We get lots of compliments on how well this matches our kitchen. Cons: I remember this taking a lot of time to put together, probably 3-4 hours. This is a very cute islandtable! The countertop itself is pretty heavy duty. The rest of the wood is somewhat lightweight. Overall,, assembly instructions are fairly easy to follow. The most challenging part of assembly is the final alignment of the counter top to the base and legs. The holes do not align perfect and you will need significant pressure on top to fit the top on to the base correctly. Additionally, there are no spare screws, so if you break one (likely), you will not have all of the necessary hardware to complete it with all of the screws as required. Take this one for example: Crafted from solid and engineered wood, it strikes a clean-lined silhouette and boasts a neutral coloring for a look that complements nearly any color palette. This is perfect in terms of looks from a distance, though not the highest quality. I’ve had to touch up the color on a few places and it’s particle board, so not great. If you can afford a more expensive one, I would recommend spending more. But the higher quality ones didn’t deliver to my address, so I used the DIY method and assembled this with not too much difficulty. Best parts are the cupboards and drawers that open from both sides, and the real wood surface. This cart is just the right size for a small “kitchen island” it’s a landing spot when I’m pulling multiple items out of the refrigerator and a good place to set up drinks or plates and utensils when we are entertaining. We installed the wheels instead of the bun feet so we can move it out of the kitchen when needed. I’m using it to store cutting boards, baking pans and containers for leftovers. The South Perth Island is beautiful. The down side is color is not the same in the pictures on Wayfair where you choose your color. When the item arrived the color was much darker. Not a match at all. I held the picture of the color I wanted up to my cabinets to match from the color samples on Wayfair. It looked like a perfect match. When I got the island it was actually a very dark walnut instead of the Caribbean Rum picture color on the wayfair web. The island arrived in perfect condition. I uncrated it in the garage at let it stay there to air out for a few days because it smelled freshly painted. It is just what I was looking for. There is plenty of storage between the two drawers and the bottom cabinet. The butcher block top looks great against the European Gray cabinet. I did change the knobs to match the ones on my kitchen cabinet. The piece is very sturdy...and it is made in the USA! I love this island so much. It has changed my whole kitchen as it looks so custom and built in. The wheels really roll so I put a thin rubber backed throw rug under it to keep it from moving. My only small complaint is I wish it had a support bracket in the middle of the drop leaf as I’m afraid my 8 year old and his friends are going to lean to hard on it and ruin the side brackets.. Well made and very attractive EXCEPT the "butcher block" top is wood flooring that is stained and varnished. If you put a drink on it, it will leave a ring. You can't really USE it practically, you have to be careful about water, cut marks being very visible, food laying on varathane, and not putting anything hot on it. Very impractible!!. Roger.
