The photos make the piece look black - it is NOT black, more a warm dark grey. Assembly was somewhat tricky as the screws that pull all the pieces together are very similar in size/shape, so it took a few trial/errors to figure out which numbers corresponded with what the directions indicated. It's overall a solid piece, but I likely wouldn't buy it again based on the color and assembly. (Color next to a black purse in the photo).
