This candle has a good size to it and unless you are right on top of it looks as though it is a real candle. Goodness knows how expensive it would be to purchase a true candle, but I have used it for a long time. I have not even needed to change the batteries. It throws off light exactly like a real candle. This turned out to be a bit large for my lantern (I should have measured better) but I like it so much, I found another use for it. I'd also prefer a more realistic look, like wax with dripping, etc, but the effect of the flickering and the brightness make this a spectacular candle.
