Seated in sukhasana on a throne of inverted lotus, Ganesha holds the ankusha and the pasha in the rear hands. He holds his broken tusk in the right hand; and in the left is a big modaka towards which his trunk moves. The modaka is not only his most ancient but also his most characteristic attribute. A multi-tiered crown adorns his elephant head and other rich ornaments decorate the rest of his body. He has a serpent around his waist, acting as the udarbandha, holding together his pot belly. Behind the image is an elaborate arch with the image of kirtimukha adorning its pinnacle.
