• Annapurna- she who fulfills (purna) the need for foodgrain (anna) is a benevolent roopa of Adi Shakti, the primordial goddess, who nurtures not only the mortals but Shiva and all the divinities with her unending maternal compassion. Worshipped mainly in Kashi, as an incarnation of Devi Parvati, goddess Annapurna in this brass statue is sculpted seated on a beautiful Kamalasana (lotus throne), wearing delicate ornaments and a dhoti whose folds are carefully delinated with fine incised lines. Devi Annapurna holds a pot and a ladle in her hand, from which she provides life nourishment to all. With a steady gaze, which affirms Devi's divine, active presence within the murti, this idol nurtures the devotees with the darshan of Maa Annapurna.
