The Tired Gleaner, 1880 Framed Print on Canvas

Breton’s poetic, rhythmic rendering of peasant girl figures in a dreamlike landscape, posed against the setting sun, was very popular in the United States. A gleaner, one who picks the remnants of wheat from a harvested feild, is portrayed by the artist as symbolically humanistic in subdued tones. Breton’s earthy work ingrains the suggestion of the hardships of peasant life, that brings a stark beauty to his treasured work of Realism. This authentic stretched canvas replica captures the original painting’s texture, depth of color, and even its brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. It is surrounded by an imported, antique gold-toned, delicately sculpted 4″-wide designer resin frame with a leaf motif. Proudly printed and framed in the USA using imported molding.
