Robert Curthose (1051-1134), also called Robert II Duc de Normandie, ruled Normandy from 1087 to 1106 and spent many years fighting in the First Crusade. Curthose, from the French courtheuse meaning "short stockings" was a nickname given to him by his father, William the Conqueror.
