Ophelia, 1890 Framed Print on Canvas

Commissioned for the Court Square Theater in Springfield, Massachusetts, French artist Lefebvre depicts Ophelia, a tragic character from William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. A member of the Institute de France, the governing body of the Académie des Beaux-Arts, Lefebvre accents the purity of Ophelia, by her luxuriant white dress and collection of flowers. A vision, this young beauty is aglow amist this tender interpretation. This authentic stretched canvas replica captures the original painting’s texture, depth of color, and even its brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. It is surrounded by an imported, antique gold-toned, delicately sculpted 4″-wide designer resin frame with a leaf motif. Proudly printed and framed in the USA using imported molding.
