Hand-shaped of what appears to be a fine grained black and white granite by chipping and grinding, likely for grinding due to its deeply 'belled' bottom face, these tools could be passed down across generations. Hand tools of such versatility were essential to life for the First/Native peoples of the Americas and have been recovered at archeological sites dating from 500 to 5000 years old.
