OXO STL CHEF's MANDOLINE 2.0

I love my mandolin! I previously had one by OXO that was a V shape blade. I was frustrated that the cuts were not consistent and the food was getting caught in the blade. I love the easy of use and clean cuts that made preparing for Christmas dinner a breeze!

I really wanted to like this mandoline. I love OXO products. I process a lot of garden produce for canning and for the freezer - quick & easy uniform slices makes the process so much more enjoyable. But thoroughly cleaning this mandoline is nearly impossible - mostly because of how the julienne and french fry blades move up & down through the upper flat surface. I finally resorted to the smallest bottle brush I could find (less than 1/2") to get into all the nooks and crannies without cutting my fingers or dish cloth to shreds. And then I realized the blade was getting dull - and could get no information about sharpening the blade or purchasing a replacement blade. So after two years of use I'm sending this mandoline to the scrap yard. Fancy cuts and the adjustment dial are useless if the blade cannot be sharpened or replaced. And the long tedious cleaning process is just miserable.

Does a lot of kitchen tasks, but only fair...waffle fries, fries, usually have to break up so lengthens time that You ha e saved by using it. Also cutting tomatos, other soft skin items not so great. Sharper blades would help.
