Weather Forecasting The weather forecast or pressure tendency is based on the rate of change of barometric pressure. In general, when the pressure increases, the weather improves (sunny to partly cloudy) and when the pressure decreases, the weather degrades (cloudy to rain). The weather forecast is an estimation or generalization of weather changes in the next 24 to 48 hours, and varies from location to location. The tendency is simply a tool for projecting weather conditions and is never to be relied upon as an accurate method to predict the weather. The barometer includes a manually set needle, which is used to mark the current measurement so a change can be seen. Barometric readings should be taken daily. The rich, wood framed classic weather station measures barometric pressure (liquid). The antique weather station displays an air of quality and accuracy one would expect with a fine, handcrafted weather instrument from Ambient Weather. The concept that 'decreasing atmospheric pressure predicts stormy weather' was postulated by Lucien Video and it's the basis for a weather prediction device called a storm glass or liquid barometer. It consists of a glass container with a sealed body, half-filled with water. A narrow spout connects to the body below the water level and rises above the water level, where it is open to the atmosphere. When the air pressure is lower than it was at the time the body was sealed, the water level in the spout will rise above the water level in the body and when the air pressure is higher, the water level in the spout will drop below the water level in the body. Also includes a comfort meter, which measures temperature and humidity, and a comfort zone indicator.
