Over-The-Range Microwaves

Overall this is a good microwave and heats up food quickly. I like the flat clean look of the front door without the handle like the other models. This also makes it easy to clean. The controls however could use some improvement. Especially adding one touch start. It currently has a 30 second quick start button but to run it for a minute or two, you have to either enter the numbers and press start or press the 30 second button multiple times. The other auto features could also use better guided display as we have to constantly look up which setting to use. A WiFi connection to set it up would have been a nice feature. In this modern day of smart devices and AI this model still feels outdated as my 15 year old microwave that this one replaced had the same and some better one touch features.. Jhumroo. Frisco, TX. Product is what we needed as the kitchenette required a smaller microwave. Product arrived damaged but nothing would have indicated damage looking at packaging. The damaged parts (dents on both sides) were easily concealed when installed but that was also a bit of a hassle. My husband is an electrician & has hung quite a few microwaves, yet he wasn't a fan of the install. We tested after install, it works & no issues with the unit at the moment (not being used as we aren't moved in at the moment). We did contact Wayfair about issues, they contacted Danby on my behalf & Danby contacted me the next day. After an exhaustive search we found this perfect ZLINE microwave to put in the corner of our new kitchen next to the pantry. This is an OTR model but it can be mounted as we did. It convenient yet out of the way, not taking up counters pace. We didn't care for the microwave in a drawer, so this was the fix. The tubular handle matched other appliances. My only thought was I wished the handle matched. For some reason it's shiny chrome on a stainless trimmed front? You don't notice as it's in the corner, but we did wonder. I've had my new microwave for three weeks. So far I love it. Easy to use. Food is heated as I needed. Used the potato button yesterday and it was great. This is my second GE microwave. My first just died one day after 14 years. My appliance company recommended this model and it was on sale, so even better. I recommend dealing with a local appliance store as they kept records my previous purchases and knew what would fit in my kitchen. Their prices were better than the big box stores. I purchased this microwave as we wanted to purchase all ZLINE products for our kitchen as well as receiving the microwave earlier to have it install for our stone fabricator to get precise templates made for our kitchen quartz backsplash around the microwave area and countertops, etc. They installed stone yesterday afternoon. Our kitchen is a work in progress. We are under construction currently and have no electrical or plumbing turned on anywhere and not everything is hooked up yet. We have approximately one months and a couple of weeks left of construction for our interior to be completed. I love the style and the interior of the microwave. We have five small surface scratches as you open the interior door, they are located on the bottom stainless steel panel below the interior opening. Upon delivery the microwave sat in the box for two weeks before installation. Once installed we noticed the interior scratches while watching them install. When the door is shut, you cannot visibly see this. Not the best outcome. Once the construction is completed I will be able to test for functionality. I can update my review at that time. We look forward to our Autograph Edition S/S with Champagne Bronze induction range and counter depth fridge being installed in the future once our flooring is installed. Replaced 12 year old GE convection that kept blowing cooktop bulbs. Simple install, similar controls as my older version, sans convection that I don’t think I ever used. We followed the instructions to install, and then figure out that it would have fit exactly into the old frame, so wasted about an hour removing the old wall connections…. Great having a dial to easily add seconds, or can just hit 30 second button a few times. LOVE the pull out vent that covers the entire cook surface! I had a ge microwave already. This was basically the newest version. Be careful. The mount bracket is a little different and the top screws are in a different spot. It came with nice paper templates that showed you exactly where to mount and drill. Me and a friend installed it in 45 minutes. Works great. No fluff solid ge appliance. I’m happy. James.
