Love everything about this fire pit! Quality is fantastic, big and heavy also gives off a ton of heat which is what I wanted. This is not only great to look at but very functional. Fire Pit shouldn't just look good needs to give you the warmth too. This does it all. If you want quality this is it.

Unfortunately this has been a negative experience. Two companies are involved in the production of this firepit (Potteryworks and Stanbroil). However, Potteryworks only purchases products from Stanbroil. Therefore Stanbroil bears no responsibility for this problem: Final responsibility for the product must rest with Wayfair. Firstly, parts were missing from the shipment from Potteryworks: a male to male adapter for the fire ring to flex line and another, from the flex line to the smaller diameter used for a connection to the propane source. In addition, crushed black lava (part of the firepit kit) was missing. When Potteryworks was contacted about this problem, they responded promptly and politely offering to supply the missing connectors immediately and admitting that they should have been included with the unit. The absence of lava rock was explained by its added weight and the possibility that it could damage the concrete fire pit during transport. The fact that it did not arrive in a different package together with the firepit and has still not arrived several days later, was not explained. Potential customers should be aware that Potteryworks only purchases the burner and propane components from "Stanbroil" (www.stanbroil.com) to produce this unit. Stanbroil has no hand in how the propane fire ring etc is installed in the Potteryworks concrete bowl for the firepit. For example, in their instructions, Stanbroil states emphatically that TWO vents (each 18 sq inches in size) must be installed on either side of the firepit below the level of the burner to allow unburned propane to escape, preventing in their words: " …a very hazardous situation". Potteryworks has not followed this advice. The drainage hole in the bottom of the Potteryworks firepit is 4.6 inches in diameter i.e. 16.7 square inches; not even one half of that recommended by Stanbroil. The response of Potteryworks to this finding was as follows: "To allow proper ventilation, we use a 33-inch steel grate with openings every ½” which sufficiently provides the proper ventilation required for a LP setting." Clearly this reflects a lack of understanding that propane is heavier than air. It also fails to acknowledge the fact that opening in the grate are BELOW the fire ring. This would allow for excellent downward drift of unburned propane! Again, one should also note that the bottom of the Potteryworks firepit has a single drainage hole 4.6 inches in diameter. This amounts to 16.6 sq inches for propane ventilation. Indeed, if the firepit was to be placed on flat earth, practically no space would be available for propane escape in the event of failure to ignite. Additional remarks from Potteryworks included the following; "….must point out that this is an engineered design with more than 10 years on the market, has all the proper safety construction measures" ( Clearly it does not, Stanbroil's recommendations vouch for this) " …supported by a $5M umbrella insurance coverage for any unlikely event" (Is this to cover the company or the consumer?) "....and fortunately not a single safety-related issue has presented over that course of time" (…but how many close calls?) I pointed out the deficiencies in propane vents to the Potteryworks representative (who was, incidentally, prompt, polite and helpful throughout) but the official response from Potteryworks was that the concrete firepite design : "doesn’t allow any vent holes other than the 3.5 inch on the bottom (this is actually 4.6 inches in diameter Potteryworks, not 3.5 inches) and the side hole, given that it would compromise the whole structure, and break over time." I doubt that very much indeed. A civil engineer colleague supports my impression. Appropriate mesh reinforcement and casting would allow for proper ventilation in the base of this unit. In summary, aesthetically this is a beautiful firepit. However it has safety deficiencies, unburned propane drainage being the major problem. This could be remedied by drilling two large propane drainage holes through the concrete close to the bottom. This would undoubtedly void any warranty. At the very least, one should ensure that the fire pit is placed on irregular stones to keep the ventral drainage hole patent for both water AND propane. In summary, Potteryworks had responded quickly and politely but clearly know little of the design faults in this unit. Potteryworks represents a lack of an understanding of chemistry and physics, a poor knowledge of their own product, negligence of design recommendations from Stanbroil and poor control over packaging. Overall blame for this debacle however, rests with Wayfair. Clearly, they know little about the product they advertise so avidly. Sadly, I intend to return the product to Wayfair for a full refund. If the firepit is not removed it should make an attractive flower pot.

I was really worried how they were going to deliver a 250lb concrete bowl… but it was crated with wood and came in perfect condition. Delivery service was awesome too. Haven’t installed yet, but hopefully works as good as it looks!
