These window sash pin locks are constructed of steel and come in a brass plated finish. This lock features a slotted locking pin and a pin remover key which are used to lock horizontal and vertical sliding windows in a closed or ventilating position. These types of sash pin locks are designed for use on wood sash windows.
The pins seem very solid, and I like they provide several keys. Once you drill the hole and place the pin more or less flush, someone from the outside will not be able to open the window (previously they used a crowbar to pull the screws out of the latch, now they would have to break the window to get it open). From outside you can’t tell the pin is inserted, so a burglar will be clueless what is stopping them from opening the window. Then even if somehow they knew about the pin, it is very difficult to get the pin out without the key (so keep it handy for yourself when you want to open the window). I think 1 per window is enough, but you can put two if you want to be double secure.. Matthew. US. Sat Apr 25 2026
