I bought these for a specific need. I wanted to cover some very rough holes in stucco which originally housed 6" recessed cans. And I did not want to use 'goof rings' or convert to surface-mount fixtures. These lights had the largest bezels I could find at about 8-1/4". Many of the residential LED canless lights are 7-1/4" or 7-1/2" and those would leave gaps showing in my installation.
These lights work as I'd hoped.
A few notes:
- You will need a junction box. Depending on the lights you are replacing it might be possible to reuse one already present, otherwise you will need to install a junction box on a nearby framing member, terminate the wiring inside it, and attach a cover.
- The lights I received did not have bushings in the cut ends of the MC. I added bushings. MC bushings are small pieces of plastic, inexpensive, typically red, and they prevent wires from being abraded by the cut end.
- Many residential canless LEDs come with a neoprene gasket which fits between the bezel and the ceiling. These do not have any such gasket, and so they are not "airtight" like residential fixtures often claim to be.
- The housing fits nicely through a 6" hole. I even had a little wiggle room and was - just barely - able to cover up all the nastiness. Bret. Alameda, CA. Sun Dec 14 2025
