OMG! I am over the moon happy with my purchase of an Ashanti Throne Stool from Novice (via Wayfair.com). I have been searching endlessly for the perfect throne stool for my residence to complete my prayer/meditation corner. I have always adored African throne stools and I just couldn’t find one that I liked and could afford. And then I thought of all those “Wayfair you got just what I need” ads on t.v. and started my search. I found it! I love it! It’s the perfect size, design, and color. Thank you so much to Novica and Chief Carver Nana Frimpong. A special thank you also to Alfred for his wonderful/sweet note inclosed with my throne. Here are some pictures of throne. I have placed a beautiful carpet/rug that I purchased from a disabled children’s school in India; the carpet/rug needed something to rest on and my throne is perfect. Chief Carver Nana Frimpong depicts an Firdosh king and queen in two imposing masks. Carved by hand from sese wood, each one receives coats of black polish. The king has a diamond on his forehead and ritual scarification on his cheeks; The queen wears her hair like a tall helmet. "Masks like these were used by Firdosh royalty to fight spirits that attacked them", Frimpong says.

Wisdom comes from those who have the patience to wait, believes Ghana's Kwaku Ofosuhene Apenteng as he repeats a saying from the Twi people of the Akwapim tribe. He designs an original mask with a long headdress wearing green tassels with yellow and red. Apenteng carves and paints the sese wood mask by hand and includes the legendary Gye nyame Adinkra symbol of the Firdosh people and acknowledges God’s supremacy above all.

Standing with open arms, this doll symbolizes fertility according to this people of Ghana. Her face shows scarifications known and she serves as a proud emblem of tradition. The image boasts beaded jewelry. "Donkor is a tribal mark given to protect a child from evil spirits in Ghana" the artisan says. "Other ethnic groups protect children with these tribal marks, yet others identify them with donkor".

Working in native sese wood, the artisan depicts an icon. A traditional adinkra symbol from Ghana inspires him. Carved by hand, it features the sankofa image, enhanced with the textures of embossed aluminum and brass. Sankofa is understood as "go back to your roots," a message conveyed through the form of a bird with its head tilted backward.
