Heavy lamps, very sturdy. The glass is beautiful. I suggest using candelabra bulbs so you can't see them hanging down when you're sitting on the couch. UPDATE: Finding the right bulb has been a problem. the candelabra bulbs work best but when I'm sitting on the couch next to the lamp the light is too strong on my eyes. I guess it would be better if I had shorter end tables. I wish the shades were longer... then the bulbs wouldn't be visible when sitting beneath them.
