La Stanza Dello Scirocco” is a range of items suitable for different rooms, such as the kitchen and the living room born out of the abstract and motionless atmosphere of a magic place: the room in large Sicilian country homes where one is forced to seek shelter from the sultriness while waiting for the scirocco to die down. Giulio Iacchetti offers a collection of wine accessories including the wine bottle stopper. The name chosen for this series of items is an amusing reference to Noah (Noè in Italian), the first man to plant grapevines and make wine. The bottle stopper, suitable for both wine and champagne bottles, is produced in polished steel and has a rubber inner section to close the cap with a pressure and expansion mechanism. Easy to use, insert by pressing and turning clockwise to fit the neck of the bottle. To remove it, simply turn in the opposite direction and pull it out. This stopper adapts to the neck of most wine bottles found on the market today. The size of the stopper was determined through a study that considered the numerous bottle types most commonly used by wineries. The shape of the object is reminiscent of a classic cork, which hermetically seals champagne bottles and their content.

This collection series was inspired by the weightlessness of marine life. The collection of fruit bowls and its extraordinary success in 2006 prompted the manufacturer to explore the potential for expanding this icon to new types of products.

This is not only a napkin holder but a piece of art. It still look good when it's left emptied. I subtracted 1 star because we have to get an 8"x8" (not a common size) napkin in order for it to look good in the tray. Metaproject designer, Laura Polinoro graduated from DAMS in Bologna. In 1989 she wrote "L'officina Alessi. Alberto Alessi and Alessandro Mendini: Ten years of projects, 1980-1990". In 1990, with Alberto Alessi and Alessandro Mendini, she founded the Alessi Study Center (CSA), a place of experimentation that involves professionals and young creatives from various disciplines. There, she conducted workshops and created innovative collections proposing the concept of metaproject. Since 2000 she continued her collaboration by founding and directing the LPWK Design Studio. She's currently a visiting associate professor at Domus Academy and NABA. Jim Hannon-Tan's style and viewpoint have been shaped by a diversity of inputs and ideas. Born in Spain, he grew up with Asian influences in multicultural Australia before moving to Europe to hone his skills in the design studios of Milan, Amsterdam, and London over 15 years. His creative base is now back in Australia, where he is inspired by the vast landscapes, East-West fusion, and the potential of design to humanize new technologies and advanced manufacturing.
