Size is exactly has described, the black metal is good quality. We anchored the bed to the wall, as it was not as sturdy as we would have liked when our son was on it. Wanted this for someone who would be sleeping and watching television in the bedroom frequently and there wasn’t space for a separate seating area. I paid for assembly and the person was able to build it without any issues. The drawers below are a little flimsy, but love the extra added storage under the bed. It was just what we needed, but then we moved....... We are still using it in our new place, but boy can I see what a space saver this would have been in her other room. Not that her current room is large or anything. My soon to be 9 year old daughter is enjoying it , but compared to another bunk I bought through wayfair, it is far less sturdy. I tried to jam it hard into a corner to add as much support as possible. My husband and I also double checked all the connections, but you can feel the pressure on the ladder as you climb up to the top. This bothers me a little, but she is still small enough. It might be a bigger issue for a teenager. For me, it is a notable issue, so I'll place this piece at a 4 star. However, overall, the piece does the trick on space saving with a desk included.
